The City of Kitchener is now accepting grant applications from residents looking to restore or conserve their heritage property. Eligible properties include individually designated properties under the Ontario Heritage Act and properties located in the City’s four heritage conservation districts: Upper Doon, Victoria Park Area, St. Mary’s and Civic Centre Neighbourhood.
Grants are available to cover up to half the cost of eligible projects, from a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $3,000. Applications for 2020 are due Tuesday March 31, 2020 (closed).

Originally the frame cottage of Nicholas Zeiger who built his home in 1852. Mr. Zeiger was a brick mason who established his factory in his backyard. In 1858 John Dauberger bought the property and covered the home with bricks puddled by hand on the site. The vitality of this simple, practical Georgian cottage continues to the present day.
