The Region of Waterloo is holding community consultations on the potential locations for Consumption and Treatment Services (formerly known as Supervised Consumption Services or Safe Injection Sites) in Kitchener. As you may be aware, the candidate locations in Kitchener are:
· 115 Water Street North, Kitchener
· 150 Duke Street West, Kitchener
· 105 Victoria Street North, Kitchener (vacant lot at corner of Weber and Victoria)
People who live or have businesses within 250m of an identified site will receive a letter in the mail inviting them to an invite-only consultation session held on January 30th. This is to ensure that people who are closest to a location have an opportunity to identify potential benefits, concerns, and mitigation strategies. Registration is required.
The consultation sessions are open to the public and are one way residents can share their thoughts about the candidate locations. The sessions will ask participants about benefits of the proposed locations, concerns, and ways those concerns can be mitigated. The sessions will be led by ICA Associates, a third party consultant based out of Toronto. Registration is required. Please visit www.regionofwaterloo.ca/cts to register. Click on the header “How can I be involved?” Another way to provide input is through their online survey. This survey can be accessed here.
The public consultations are scheduled for two dates:
February 5, 2019 6-9 pm (click the link to go to registration page)
February 7, 2019 6-9 pm (click the link to go to registration page)
