The Waterloo Regional Council is proposing to locate a ”Safe Injection Site” within the Olde Berlin Town neighbourhood at 115 Water St. N. (near the corner of Victoria & Ahrens). This proposed Safe Injection Site is part of the Region’s Opioid Response plan for supervised consumption services.
A feasibility study – Waterloo Region Supervised Consumption Services Phase 2a Results – was presented and endorsed (with a few amendments) at the June 19th Regional Council meeting. Here is the link to the agenda; go to page 84. The meeting minutes are also available.
Several neighbours are already discussing this proposal. A neighbourhood meeting is being planned. As soon as a date and meeting location are firmed up, we will send another notice.
