There will be a follow-up neighbours’ meeting regarding the Region’s proposed Supervised Consumption Site at 115 Water Street North on Tuesday July 10th, 2018 from 7-9 pm at the Downtown Community Centre, 35B Weber St. W.
The Region has reached out to the OBTNA to arrange a meeting soon after the upcoming neighbours’ meeting with the Region and associated organizations to provide an overview of their upcoming consultation process. Meeting date to follow.
The location at 115 Water Street North is currently the only location being considered in Kitchener, as the second possible location was recently removed from consideration.
However, the Region has set up a process for submission of alternative locations for Supervised Consumption Sites. They ask that people submit all suggested sites through Engage Region of Waterloo even if they have previously sent them to the Region. On the Engage platform, select “Locations for Supervised Consumption Services”.
From the Region: “The Engage Region of Waterloo platform will be used as a channel for individuals to provide their suggestions within the context of criteria and other relevant background information. All suggestions received through this platform will be reviewed and evaluated by the SCS Implementation Steering Committee to determine viability as candidate locations. Suggestions for candidate locations provided through other pathways (social media, voice mails, etc.) should be resubmitted through this platform to ensure they are on the list for further evaluation.”
