Our neighbourhood had our in-person consultation on the Urban Design Manual on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
We heard about the content of the manual within the general review of land-use in Kitchener and were asked to react to three proposed guidelines for discussion:
1.Leverage existing laneways as a community asset. Provide opportunity for enhanced pedestrian movement, recreation, and as a space for cultural activity. Accentuate laneway entrances and crossings at local streets.
2.Ensure new mid-rise development on Victoria Street North and Weber Street West are compatible with adjacent low rise developments (i.e.: corner properties; backing onto laneways; where Mixed Use abuts low-rise residential).
3.Improve the quality of open space/parks specifically at Gordon Green.
If you wold like to weigh in on these questions, or share your comments on any matters regarding the Urban Design Manual, please do so by March 31st. You can send your comments to Dayna.Edwards@kitchener.ca. Please CC the Olde Berlin Town Neighbourhood Association at writeus@oldeberlintown.ca.
